Port Isobel

Sun Oct 10, 2004, 5:06 PM
Port Isobel was awesome!!! Being on the East Side totally rocked, and Andy and Bryn (our counselors) were amazing. At PI, we went canoeing, crabbing, mud mucking, crab scraping, and oyster dredging. Canoeing, crabbing, and crab scraping were really fun. For crabbing, we had to bait the crab pots with frozen fish. First, we had to kiss them, and then break them in half. Andy bit the head offa his, which inspired Kristen, Erika, and Allison to do the same. Eep. Mud mucking was absolutely DISGUSTING! It was really chunky, wet, and deep, and it also stank of sulpheric hydroxide. >.< You couldn't even walk in it; you had to crawl/swim through it, therefore getting yourself very very very muddy. After we wallowed like pigs (and also gave ourselves free facials!), we jumped into the Chesapeake Bay and rinsed off our clothing. Following, we were supposed to have a bay shower, but it was broken. But then it worked, so yay. Oh, and one night we stargazed on the dock...it was so ungodly beautiful, it seemed out of this world. There, we learned about rods and cones and peripheral vision and night vision. ^.^ Oh yeah...there's this whole rivalry thing between East and West Side (despite the fact that we're from the same school), so Kristen, Heather, Sofia, Lauren, Holly, and I came up with a cheer. It goes: EAST IS A BEAST, YO! WE'RE GONNA BEAT Y'ALL'S SIDE, BRO! WEST IS INFEST...ED WITH ANTS! EAST IS THE BEST! WE'RE GONNA BEAT THE WEST! =P Also, East Side came up with this thing where, whenever Andy yelled "EAST SIDE!", we answered "YOU KNOW!" and then became quiet. It worked out very well. And that's about all I have to say...I'm glad to be home, but given my choice, I wouldn't have left PI.
